Join us for Walk the World 2008!
The world's largest global fundraising event
On 1 June 2008 hundreds of thousands of people around the world are expected to walk 5 kilometers, the average distance a child in a developing country has to walk to school, often without having eaten. The objectives of the global ‘Fight Hunger: Walk the World’ event are to increase awareness of child hunger and malnutrition and to raise additional funds for the WFP’s School Feeding Program. The walk will take place around the globe in 24 time zones.

The walk started in 2003 as an Asian regional TNT employee fundraising activity, and has since grown into the world’s largest annual global fundraising event involving DSM, TNT, Unilever and WFP employees, their families/friends, other corporate partners, humanitarian institutions, and civil organizations.

In 2007 over 800,000 people in 118 countries walked, generating awareness for the problem of hunger as well as raising about € 2 million for the WFP’s School Feeding Program.

On behalf of the WPF, DSM, TNT and Unilever are as corporate partners organizing Walk the World 2008 in the Netherlands. DSM employees are also actively participating in various other countries such as China and Switzerland.

Within an agreed global framework, the walk will be organized locally, and will be a fun and worthwhile way of spending a Sunday for employees, their families and friends.
